UI Mission 2012 – Ready to Go!

The Denver Uplift Mission Team met again Saturday, January 21, 2012, for our last orientation and final packing day.  Thank you to all of the group for all the donations – outreach has collected toy cars from both Edith Pasion and Kim Buck with the Wheatridge Rotary Club.  The Rotary Clubs sponsored the printing of the Rotary International symbol on the tops of the cars and the children served in this year’s mission will just love them.  We also collected crayons, coloring books, bags for distributing gifts, beanie babies, mardi gras beads and, Geo, one of our participants from the Philippines, did a great job collecting items for us in the Philippines through his fabulous facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Project-Coloring-the-World-with-Smiles/245976038784972#!/pages/Project-Coloring-the-World-with-Smiles/245976038784972?sk=wall.  We received toothbrushes and toothpaste from Gina Luttrell.  Dr. Elliot Duboys, Dr. Floyd Sekiya, and Dr. Zvi Jacob donated medical supplies.  Dr. Steve Krebs, our head of mission received in-kind donations from AmeriCare and other groups.  Sally Capoot donated her time and expertise to clean and organize all of the UI instruments into very neat packets ready to go for our mission.  Everyone has contributed immensely to the success of this year’s mission.

The boxes are all packed and we are ready for the Freedom Harley Davidson staff to drive them out to the airport next Thursday, February 2 when our group will meet at the United Counter and be ready to embark on the mission.  We will keep you updated daily through our blog as the mission progresses.  It’s going to be a great mission this year.  Stay tuned.
